The Core module is required to be taken by all drivers who wish to obtain the ADR Certificate.
This module covers the general overview of dangers surrounding the transport of dangerous goods. It covers the hazards given by all the dangerous goods classes as well as provisions such as security requirements and responsibilities of those involved in the transport operation.
This module can also be used as part of a Dangerous Goods Awareness course for other members of staff who are not drivers and are only required to carry out an awareness course.
The Packages module is required by drivers who transport dangerous goods in packages and/or bulk containment other than tanks.
This module covers packaging requirements including markings. It also covers exemptions including Excepted Quantity, Limited Quantity and the Small Load Transport Limit.
The Class 2: Gases module is required for drivers that transport dangerous goods categorised as a UN Class 2.1 Flammable Gas, Class 2.2 Compressed Gas (Non-Flammable Non-Toxic Gas) or Class 2.3 Toxic Gas.
Common goods categorised under this category include Butane, Propane and Chlorine.
The Class 3: Flammable Liquids module is required for drivers that transport dangerous goods categorised as UN Class 3.
Common goods categorised under this category include UN1202 DIESEL FUEL, UN1203 PETROL and UN1223 KEROSENE.
The Class 4: Flammable Solids module is required for drivers that transport dangerous goods categorised as a UN Class 4.1 Flammable Solid, Class 4.2 Spontaneously Combustible or Class 4.3 Dangerous when Wet.
Common goods categorised under this category include Hexamine Fuel Blocks, Carbon and Sodium.
The Class 5: Oxidisers module is required for drivers that transport dangerous goods categorised as UN Class 5.1 Oxidiser (Oxidizer) or Class 5.2 Organic Peroxide.
Common goods categorised under this category include Fertiliser and Hydrogen Peroxide.
The Class 6: Toxics module is required for drivers that transport dangerous goods categorised as a UN Class 6.1 Toxic or Class 6.2 Infectious Substance.
Common goods categorised under this category include Pesticides and Clinical Waste.
The Class 8: Corrosives module is required for drivers that transport dangerous goods categorised as UN Class 8.
Common goods categorised under this category include Hydrochloric Acid and Bleach (Sodium Hydroxide).
The Class 9: Miscellaneous module is required for drivers that transport dangerous goods and articles categorised as UN Class 9.
Common goods categorised under this category include Lithium Batteries, Asbestos and Bitumen.
